Since 1983, Sierra Adoption Services (SAS) has provided permanent adoptive families
for California’s waiting children. Founded by adoptive parents who saw that traditional
adoption procedures stood in the way of the placement of many children, SAS works to
place children who are in foster care - the children who are harder to place - into permanent,
loving, adoptive homes.
Without the support of our incredible volunteers - nearly 200 strong - SAS wouldn’t have
succeeded in placing nearly 1,800 children in its 25-year history. Volunteers play a critical
role in most aspects of SAS, ranging from clerical assistance and mailings, to events and family
recruitment. We make every effort to match volunteers with the jobs they enjoy
most, and provide plenty of training and guidance along the way.
Today, more than 2,500 children wait for permanent homes in the greater Sacramento
area. By joining Sierra Adoption Services as a volunteer, you’ll be helping to give the
greatest gift that these children could wish for - a loving, permanent home.
