Single adults, as well as couples,
can be foster parents.
|

Foster parents can be employed if they
have an approved childcare plan.
|

Foster parents can rent or own their
home as long as the home is safe and has enough room.

Foster parents come from all economic
levels; they only need an income sufficient to meet the basic needs of their family.

Foster parents receive a financial
stipend to cover the costs of caring for their foster child(ren).

Foster parents are provided training
to manage family issues.

Foster families receive support and
counseling after placements

There are over 120,000 children in the
foster care system in the State of California.

Over 6,000 children in the greater
Sacramento community including the counties of Placer, Nevada, El Dorado, Yolo,
and Yuba are currently living in foster care.

Over 3,000 of these children will
remain in foster care unless they are adopted.
|


|
Over 300 children per month enter the
Sacramento, Nevada and Placer County area foster care system and are in need
of quality foster homes.
|


|
Unless an adoptive home is found,
dependent children reside in foster care until they turn 18.
|


|
70% of San Quentin inmates grew
up in foster care. Nationwide, over 90% of the young men in prison were
either abandoned by their parents, abused, and/or lived in the foster care system.
