The Adoptive Family Resource Center offers a unique therapy called Parent-Child Interaction
Therapy (PCIT). Through a one-way mirror, a PCIT-trained therapist watches the parent interact
with the child. The parent wears an electric device in the ear, and can hear suggestions
and real-time feedback from the therapist in the next room. By using PCIT with adoptive
families, we will improve the participating children’s behavior so that they may bond with
their new families, thereby breaking the cycle of abuse.
