Family

The Adoptive Family Resource Center offers a wide range of counseling services, which are available for the adopted child, children born to the adoptive family, adoptive parents, adult adoptees, and birth parents. Groups for adopted children, birth children and adoptive parents are available as well as family sessions, which may include any combinations of family members. Adoption-trained, professional counselors help families cope with the unique needs of the adoptive family. The center staff can help you with questions such as:

  • I think my adopted son is depressed, who can help?
  • What do I tell my child about her troubled family history?
  • What if my child says she misses her “real” mom?
  • Is this an adoption issue, or normal kid stuff?
  • My child is having problems at school, is this related to his adoption?
  • My birth child and my adopted child are not getting along-what do I do?
  • The adoption is impacting my marriage - what do I do?
